Every expecting family deserves a DOULA!

Picture
Each birth experience is unique and unpredictable, but as you gaze into your newborn’s eyes and recall the experience, you deserve to be satisfied that you made the best choices for your family.  Having a doula by your side will empower and inform you and your partner to make those choices, while possessing the tools and experience to help you have a beautiful birth that is as natural as you desire and as nature allows.  I realize and appreciate the impact of this experience upon all of the lives involved, both the journey itself, and the end result : your precious newborn!
I have a love and passion for Mommies and families as they are bringing their baby into the world, and am honored to be a part of your miracle!

Did you Know... ???

  • Doulas are not only beneficial to families who desire unmedicated birth, but also for those who require induction for medical reasons, prefer medicated pain relief, planned cesarean, etc.  A good, supportive doula realizes that not one type of birth is right for every family across the board.
  • Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.
  • A doula's role is to support the family, regardless of the circumstances of the birth.
  • Doula training includes vaginal, cesarean, and VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) births for mothers that are low- or high-risk, single or teen moms, multiples, women with disabilities, or past abuse trauma.  Specified training includes the pregnancy, birth, AND postpartum stages of childbirth.

What is so special about having a DOULA?!

  • Recognizes birth as a key experience that greatly impacts and will be remembered by the mother all her life.
  • Understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor.
  • Assists the family in preparing for and carrying out their desires for birth.
  • Stays with the woman throughout the labor and birth.
  • Provides emotional support, physical comfort measures and an objective viewpoint, as well as helping the birthing family get the information they need to make informed decision.
  • Facilitates communication between the laboring woman, her partner and her clinical care providers.
  • Perceives her role as nurturing and protecting the woman's memory of the birth experience.
  • Encourages the woman's partner to participate at his/her comfort level.
